Birchbox: Back To Basics!

So, this month I chose the Back To Basics Box and I picked it for a few reasons… Firstly it’s because out of the product options available they most appealed to me and I hadn’t received them previously; secondly I loved the clean cut look of the box, being a dark navy blue with Birchbox embossed in gold.

Here’s what I got 🙂

1 & 2. Beaver Professional Hydro Moisturizing Shampoo, £11.50 and Conditioner, £12. This gentle shampoo aims to recover and repair your locks with the help of avocado oil and aloe vera. Personally, with having hair that’s coloured, I don’t tend to use shampoo that’s not specifically for colour treated hair and so I’ve not actually used this or the conditioner… yet!

3. Bioderma Sébium H20 – £10.20. This daily cleanser for oily skin contains the patented sebo-correcting complex Fluidactiv to help purify the skin and regulate sebum quality. It’s gentle on the face and eyes and there’s no need to rinse after use to help cleanse, refresh and take off your makeup at the end of your day! I’m a huge fan of micellar water and so this was perfect for me. I loved it.

4. Regenerate Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste – £10. With a minty fresh taste this toothpaste protects against cavities, reverses early signs of enamel erosion and boosts the whiteness of your teeth. It’s a nice toothpaste and I do enjoy using it, however at the price if I choose to buy it after it would be the most expensive toothpaste I’d have ever bought!

5. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat – £9. For a durable yet glossy finish to your at-home-mani, this top coat with its patented formula locks in colour for the long haul. I’m always running out of top coats and so to get a new sample from a brand I’ve not tried before was at the top of my list! It dries very quickly and I can’t fault this as a product.

6. Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner In Black – £12. I’m quite a fan of eyeliner and so again this was another reason why I chose this box! This ultra-black eyeliner is smudge proof and long lasting. It’s easy to use and you can build it up as much as you want – win win for me.

Overall again, I was really pleased with my box! My favourite was the Bioderma, followed closely by the Seche Vite. I can’t wait for next months to try out some more products ❤

Happy Birchday!!

So, this month Birchbox turns 5, having started back in the USA in 2010! To celebrate Birchbox have been doing a few different things, with ones of them being the box designs. This time they were created from moodboards presented by 2 birchboxers themselves and I absolutely loveeee the balloon themed box ❤

Here’s what I got…

 photo IMG_4385_zpst4ncd7mh.png

1.The Birchbrush – £5.99. This is this months Birchbox exclusive! It’s a cute little hand held brush which is perfect for keeping in your handbag to ensure even on the go your hair is flawless.

2. John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler – £16. Say au revoir to those annoying knots with this tangle tamer. Simply apply to wet hair and massage in! You can either leave this in or wash it out within 1-3 minutes, but personally I like to wash this out. This product has got a nice citrus smell to it and whilst I wouldn’t say it got rid of every tangle it did help smooth my hair.

3. Beauty Protector Beauty Wash – £8. This body wash has a really sweet smell to it and I really like it! It’s perfect for in-shower use to leave you feeling clean and whilst it does actually say you can use it in the bath, you’d definitely need more than a tester size to do this.

4. Bliss Lemon and Sage Body Butter – £22. Simply slather on this moisturising cream on any of your problem areas OR all over if you fancy to nourish and soften your skin. This cream has a citrus scent to it which isn’t too overpowering once applied, however for me personally if given the choice I’d stay away from a body butter that has any hint of lemon (complete personal preference).

5. Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil in Humble Brag – £17. This is a two-in-one product, whereby you can use the pencil for a pop of colour on your lips or on your cheeks for a bit of blush. I’ve only tried this so far on my lips and it is a very pretty shade, however I felt it dried out my lips a little unfortunately…

6. Benefit POREfessional License To Blot – £15.50. This product has been on my wishlist for a while now and so I was thrilled it came as a sample this month! This product battles against those pesky shiny T-Zones with it’s unique oil-blotting stick. To use simply apply on those problem areas in a blotting motion. Personally I use this before my makeup is applied and I find this gives the best results.

Overall again, I really enjoyed this months box and the sample products given. My favourite being Benefits License To Blot and my least the Laqa & Co lip pencil. I can’t wait for next months already!

August Bircbox: Review!

 photo IMG_4112_zpsbeut4xgb.png

So, it’s that time again! Here’s my August Birchbox 🙂

This months box was #BeautyJunkie and I received the following products…

1. Rituals: Ayurveda Scrub – £10. This is an exfoliating scrub with a really pretty fragrance! You’re recommended to use it once or twice a week and so far I’m really liking it. The smell is lovely and it leaves my face feeling refreshed.

2. Kebelo: Clarifying Shampoo – £13.95. This is a deep cleansing shampoo to be used maybe once a month to give your hair a bit of a boost. I’ve not actually tried this yet, but for the price I’m hoping it’s amazing. I usually use Aussie products which are a lot less expensive

 photo IMG_4117_zpsf6bhjt2m.jpg

3. Huygens: Exfoliating Cream – £17.90. Another exfoliating cream this month, but unlike the other this is gentle enough for daily use! Simply massage into the skin and rinse away. This is quite a creamy scrub and I like how it feels, however I’m not one for the smell! It’s quite potent and I can only describe it as being very citrus.

4. Lord & Berry: Blush – £17. This is actually the first Lord & Berry product I own! I’ve been thinking about trying them for a while, so I was pleased to receive this sample. This is a ‘suits all skintone’ shade and for my very pale skin it is a nice little pop of colour. I’m excited to try more from them.

5. The Balm Cosmetics: Balm Desert Bronzer – £15. Bronzers in general for me have always been something I avoid. Unless I’ve been on holiday or fake tan for a special occasion, I’m too pasty to get away with Bronzer! I am willing to try it out however, so I’ll definitely keep this sample for a day I’m feeling brave PLUS how cute is the sample box?!

 photo IMG_4121_zpsrsuxr4ed.jpg

6. Formula 10.0.6: Overnight Success Spot Minimizing Patches – £2.95. Infused with Tea Tree and Grape Seed these cleansing patches work on your blemishes overnight whilst you sleep to help improve the look of your skin. I love these patches and I’ll definitely buy more.

And lastly we got… Birchbox emoji stickers! And well, who doesn’t love stickers?

 photo FullSizeRender 11_zpsfzx82uxa.jpg

Overall again I really enjoyed this months box! I love that I got to try new products and also receive samples from brands I’ve been meaning to buy from. I can’t wait for the next.

July BirchBox!

– It’s BirchBox time, or rather BirchBag time this month! –

 photo IMG_3849_zpsws03h1yi.jpg

So, this month BirchBox did their very first BirchBag and I personally love this little twist on the monthly subscription box. I received the neon pink design, which was themed around the Spanish Island Ibiza! Here’s what I else I got…

 photo IMG_3861_zpsr3ahydlb.jpg

1. Soigné Nail Polish in Lavande – £11. I love this colour! From the photo, you’ll see this came out as a lovely light lavender colour. I put on two coats and I’m really impressed. I’ll definitely look at the other shades they do.

2. Unani Aloe Vera Gel – £15. This is a nice gel to put on your face or any body part that you feel perhaps needs a little TLC. It’s definitely a refreshing product, however at £15 for a full size bottle, if I’m ever feeling burnt I tend to just use aftersun which does the job for me!

 photo IMG_3864_zpsalx1k1zx.jpg

3. Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen – £25. I’ve not actually used this product yet, but I’m excited to try it out. I’m a huge Benefit fan and so any kind of sample I can get my hands on from them, I’m probably bound to love 🙂

4. BioNike Cleansing Water – £12.20. This is a nice product and it did work well in breaking up my makeup to make it easier in removing it all after a long day, however I’m quite taken with just a simple makeup wipe so I’m not sure I’ll make the change (yet) to cleansing water.

5. POP Beauty Eyeshadow Trio – £15.50. I don’t actually wear a lot of eyeshadow, I much prefer just eyeliner, however I did like these shades and they were nicely paired together. I’ll keep this in my makeup draw(ers) to try out again.

6. Barley Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge – £5.99. I love this! I love makeup sponges in general, so a tester/sample for me to get my hands on more is always a win win.

What subscription boxes are you loving lately?
