Lip Balm: My Favourites.

 photo FullSizeRender 6_zpsonoxkjaa.jpg

I love lip balms and it’s a good job really as they’re the only beauty item I always seem to lose. I always have one to hand in whatever handbag I take out for that day, but I don’t think I’ve ever made it through a whole tin of Vaseline without it magically disappearing…

Anyway, I’m a firm believer that everyone should have at least 1 lip balm in their beauty bag and these are my personal favourites! (In no particular order).

 photo FullSizeRender 4_zpsepdirdyv.jpg

1. Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips – £1.95 (Boots). Vaseline Lip Therapy helps maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier to form a protective shield between your lips and the elements. It instantly softens and soothes dry lips and leaves a lovely sheer pink tint for those days when you leave your lipstick at home. This product is great for keeping in your handbag and for the price, you can’t go wrong 🙂

2. Carmex Lip Balm – £1.65 (Boots). This classic lip balm contains ingredients such as menthol, camphor and beeswax which leaves a slight little tingling sensation once applied to soothe and smooth lips. I love the tingly feel when this is applied and I really recommend this product if your lips are in need of a bit of TLC.

3. EOS in Strawberry Sorbet – £3.25 (Amazon). Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, EOS keeps your lips moist, soft and silky smooth. I love the cute little sphere shape of this product and the smell is amazing!

4. Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub – £5.50 (Lush Cosmetics). Prep your lips with this scrub to ensure your lipstick glides on and stays put. Just apply with your finger and let the exfoliating sugar and softening jojoba oil scrub away dead skin and infuse moisture to rejuvenate your smile. The most expensive out of my top 5 but did I mention that it’s ridiculously tasty!? ❤

5. Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – £3.14 (Feel Unique). This natural lip balm is loaded with coconut and sunflower oils, rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids, to nourish, condition and soften your lips. This glides on easy and lasts a long time once applied, a great product for keeping chapped lips at bay.

August Bircbox: Review!

 photo IMG_4112_zpsbeut4xgb.png

So, it’s that time again! Here’s my August Birchbox 🙂

This months box was #BeautyJunkie and I received the following products…

1. Rituals: Ayurveda Scrub – £10. This is an exfoliating scrub with a really pretty fragrance! You’re recommended to use it once or twice a week and so far I’m really liking it. The smell is lovely and it leaves my face feeling refreshed.

2. Kebelo: Clarifying Shampoo – £13.95. This is a deep cleansing shampoo to be used maybe once a month to give your hair a bit of a boost. I’ve not actually tried this yet, but for the price I’m hoping it’s amazing. I usually use Aussie products which are a lot less expensive

 photo IMG_4117_zpsf6bhjt2m.jpg

3. Huygens: Exfoliating Cream – £17.90. Another exfoliating cream this month, but unlike the other this is gentle enough for daily use! Simply massage into the skin and rinse away. This is quite a creamy scrub and I like how it feels, however I’m not one for the smell! It’s quite potent and I can only describe it as being very citrus.

 photo FullSizeRender 10_zps5y26cupi.jpg

4. Lord & Berry: Blush – £17. This is actually the first Lord & Berry product I own! I’ve been thinking about trying them for a while, so I was pleased to receive this sample. This is a ‘suits all skintone’ shade and for my very pale skin it is a nice little pop of colour. I’m excited to try more from them.

5. The Balm Cosmetics: Balm Desert Bronzer – £15. Bronzers in general for me have always been something I avoid. Unless I’ve been on holiday or fake tan for a special occasion, I’m too pasty to get away with Bronzer! I am willing to try it out however, so I’ll definitely keep this sample for a day I’m feeling brave PLUS how cute is the sample box?!

 photo IMG_4121_zpsrsuxr4ed.jpg

6. Formula 10.0.6: Overnight Success Spot Minimizing Patches – £2.95. Infused with Tea Tree and Grape Seed these cleansing patches work on your blemishes overnight whilst you sleep to help improve the look of your skin. I love these patches and I’ll definitely buy more.

And lastly we got… Birchbox emoji stickers! And well, who doesn’t love stickers?

 photo FullSizeRender 11_zpsfzx82uxa.jpg

Overall again I really enjoyed this months box! I love that I got to try new products and also receive samples from brands I’ve been meaning to buy from. I can’t wait for the next.

My July Favourites!

 photo FullSizeRender 8_zpsnaho6w7i.jpg

So, it’s the end of the month and I thought I’d do a blog about the 10 things I’ve been loving in July!

1. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Conditioner! I’ll do a blog post on this soon as it’s my favourite product at the moment, which keeps my hair silky soft.

2. Spiralized food! I am obsessed with spiralizing courgettes and carrots as an alternative to pasta. If you’ve not spiralized yet, I recommend it.

3. Nude Lipstick! I’ve always been a bit cautious about nude lipsticks, but Rimmel Londons new collection is amazing. My favourite shade is number 42.

4. Simple Night Cream. At the moment I just need a night cream that keeps my skin dry free! I’m prone to dry patches and this helps keep them at bay.

 photo IMG_3748_zpsmryrssbw.jpg

5. 90210!! I’m tentatively awaiting September/ October to come around when all of the TV seasons start up again and so whilst I wait, I decided to give 90210’s first season a second whirl. I completely forgot how much of a crush I had on Ethan… TEAM NAOMI!

6. How To Build A Girl, by Caitlin Moran. I loveeeeee this writer and I’m currently reading her new book ❤ I’ll do a review on this soon, she’s my favourite!

7. Soigné Nail Varnish in Lavande. This was in my BirchBox and I can’t get enough of this colour. It’s perfect for Summer.

8. Treacle Moon Body Wash in Raspberry Kiss. This is possibly the loveliest smelling body wash ever. I love Treacle Moon, go try them!

9. Carex Hand Gel (Strawberry Laces). I think I have a problem as I can’t stop using this…

And lastly, I am LOVING SUMMER!! Hand me a Sangria and bring on August!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: Review.

Cleansing Water Or Makeup Wipes?

 photo IMG_3910_zpsphghpssg.jpg

When I first started to hear about cleansing water, I admit I was a little skeptical… I think it was because of the word ‘water’, it made the product sound perhaps a tiny bit lackluster? Sometimes I wear a lot of makeup, so I need a product that’s going to get all of this off! However, I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised

I’ve always loved Simple’s brand of makeup wipes. They work for me and I’m all about finding that product/cosmetic that suits you. Simple doesn’t irritate my skin or leave it blotchy and it takes off my makeup, so finding a new product was a bit of a makeup leap for me haha 🙂

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is just £3.00 in Boots and this heavy duty cleanser gives (approximately) 200 uses. Like all micellar cleansers, it’s also gentle enough to use on eyes and lips and is completely perfume free, yay!

To use it’s pretty simple, place some drops onto some cotton wool or pads and wipe! As you’ll see from the photo, all my eye makeup disappeared (mascara + eyeliner) and there wasn’t an ounce of foundation left! My skin felt clean and fresh and I didn’t feel as if any makeup had been left on before bed.

There’s many brands out there now, all ranging in price but if you’re looking for a cheaper option, but in by no means cheap in product I recommend this brand. I’ll definitely be trying out other options, I might be a cleansing water convert!

MOTD!

– Today’s makeup look 🙂 –

 photo FullSizeRender 6_zpsoxqmpizk.jpg

For 5 out of the 7 days I’m at work and so I like to keep my makeup looking fresh and minimal, whilst also giving me the coverage I need so I don’t feel naked. The reason why I love makeup is because it personally gives me confidence and experimenting with different kinds of brands and styles is my favourite! So for an everyday look my favourite makeup (currently) is…

– Maybelline New York BB Cream (light) –

– Bare Minerals Matte Loose Powder (light) –

– Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer (Fair) –

– Carmex Lip Balm –

 photo FullSizeRender 4_zpsyhneausm.jpg

– Benefit They’re Real Mascara (beyond black) –

– Rimmel Soft Khol Kajal Eye Pencil (jet black) –

 photo FullSizeRender 5_zpsp0rz4rwn.jpg

I ❤ ❤ ❤ this mascara, just look at these lashes!!!

And to finish I do a quick spritz of Urban Decays Makeup Setting Spray! 🙂

May Birchbox Time.

– Let’s unbox! –

 photo IMG_3320_zpsz6hzcmzm.jpg

I’ve been looking recently at all the different subscription boxes available at the moment and I thought I’d give myself a 6 month trial with Birchbox. So far so good!

This month it’s all about freeing your mind and I enjoyed personalising my box (see above). Here’s what I got… 🙂

 photo IMG_3330_zps68wtflr0.jpg

Parlor Sea Salt Spray – I used this spray on my wavy hair as you can see and I was pleased with the results. The photo is taken at the end of my work day and as you can see the waves are still going strong!

Stila Lip Gloss – I’m not really one for lip glosses as I prefer matt lipsticks, but I did try it out and it did give a nice glossy look to my lips so I’d say definitely try it if you like that kind of thing.

 photo FullSizeRender_zps9x6ctykk.jpg

Jelly Pong Pong Bronzer Duo – I’ve not used this yet, apart from to test it out on my arm. I think I’m too pale to get away with bronzer in general, but I do have a wedding invite coming up in June, so it might make an appearance!

 photo IMG_3333_zpslmblgjds.jpg

Nude Progenius Oil – I used a few drops of this with my moisturiser before sleeping and it did leave my skin feeling soft. However, the full size is quite expensive, so I’m not sure I’d purchase.

I’ve not had a chance yet to use the L’umiere d’Hiver masque or the Liz Earle cleanser, but I’ve heard good things, so I’m definitely going to have to make time! I’ve also not used the WAH London Nails, but I have high hopes for these too. I’ll be sure to let you know the results.

What did you think of your box? Have you used your WAH London nails?

My May Beauty Faves!

 photo IMG_3303_zps2ej4e87k.jpg

The Pore Professional – £24.50. I know there’s already a lot of reviews on the Pore Professional already, so why not just add one more! I love this product and I’ve found it really does help my foundation look flawless. It’s so silky to apply on the skin and I recommend it highly!

The Vintage Cosmetic Company – (3 brushes) – £24.00. These brushes are great! I love the coverage the foundation brush gives me and the powder brush is so soft on the skin; they’re just perfect for applying your makeup. There’s nothing worse than having a brush that sheds leaving you with bristles all over your face and these do the complete opposite. Perfect!

Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray – £21.00. This doesn’t feel heavy at all on my face when I use it and it dries instantly. I use it daily and I love it. A must have for your daily routine if you want longevity or just before that big night out!

From Brassy To Classy

~ Being blonde is a full time job! ~

 photo image 3_zpspnhncqlb.jpeg

 photo photo 9_zpsafxnxex2.jpg

Since getting my highlights redone I’ve recently been introduced to two products that I have come to love. I thought I’d share 🙂

I wash my hair every other day so that it doesn’t dry out too much, but what I’ve found really helps keep my hair hydrated is leave in conditioner. Bumble and Bumble leave in (or rinse out) conditioner really works well with my hair. It’s slightly expensive at £20.50 from Boots but you don’t need too much and so it lasts quite a while.

My personal preference is to leave it in and let my hair dry naturally. And as you can see from the above photos from the wet hair to the dry, I’m quite pleased with how smooth it’s all looking despite all the bleach!

So, along with keeping my hair silky and soft, I also want my colour to last (preferably as long as possible)! Lee Stafford Blonde Hot Shots are amazing! I got them from Boots also for £7.49.

There’s nothing worse than being a brassy blonde (unless this in intentional of course…) and these tiny little pots of purple goodness really knock out those tones for a lighter and brighter look. I use one shot every 5-6 washes and I leave them in for 2-3 minutes at a time. I find for me that this is enough to keep my blonde shining bright.
